Big Battlefield Bike Ride and other events....

Tomorrow I leave for the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, after over 700 miles of training on the bike plus the runs and swims I must be ready! I hope that the atmosphere of the ride and being with everyone that is there for the same reason will make the hard bits bearable! I am sure I will be OK  - 70 miles a day isnt that far is it?

Since I have been involved in the bike ride I have become more and more aware about how great a charity Help for Heroes is, I have read all the details on their projects who the give grants too. I even met Stephen Vause of 4 Riffle who was injured in a mortar attack and is unable to speak or move, he was one of the reasons H4H exists today and I am sure over the coming days I will meet more of our service men and women who benefit from this charity. This week they reached  £50 million  and have pledged £54 million to projects, may target of £2200 is a tiny part of this but I know what every penny is appreciated and used.

I hope to be on about £3000 by the time I finish my events, the Sports Centre are very kindly organising an Aerobathon that will boost my fundraising and I am very gratefull to them.

Hopefully over the next few days I will get internet access and be able to blog, if not I will write it all down type away when I get back.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me through the last few months, not least to Tim who has put up with many a weekend of me out on long bike rides or organsing fundraising events. Any message of support will be much appreciated....

Well this has come round quick, one week till the off and I am now a little worried. Have I put enough training in? Or is this gong to seriously hurt. Not that it matter because its not a race, it is about Help for Heroes and making lots of cash!

I've tried reallly hard to not neglect my triathlon training even though I need to put in serious mileage on the bike. The lake is now open and I have been 3 times already, its seems to get colder every time I go so I have been swimming some really good times. My running is feeling neglected, I'm only managing one or two a week at the moment and my legs don't seem to understand what I am asking them to go, the running motion just feels weird....

The fundraising is ticking over nicely, I have a few events up my sleve. We are having a fancy dress day on Friday at work with some fun and game thrown in and I have a biggy in the early stages of organising that I will tell you more about closer to the time.

I will blog again next weekend and hope to have some access whilst away to keep you updated.

And so much has happened!

The Quiz Night a few weeks ago raised £362, it was a great night and much fun was had! Thank you to everyone that came and well done to Team Explore who won the quiz!

I then did a day with Chris, Dale and Charlie who are also doing the ride at the Met Police Rugby Day. We have two bikes on turbo trainers, cakes, Hero Bears and wrist bands. We made £487 between us and had so much fun. We met lots of Help for Heroes supporters, sold loads of cakes and I even got sunburnt!

Now with two and a half weeks to go I am training hard, I did a soul destroying 47.5 miles in the pouring rain with Peter and Clare and have already riden to work twice this week - its only Wednesday . My training miles are now over 520 and top speed so far 31.6mph - now that was a little scary!

I need to get in the lake tomorrow as Blenheim will be hot on the heels of the bike ride. I have my start time - a very socialble 13:40 so no rushing in the morning. If anyone wants to come and watch the price is £7.50 and you get entrance to the grounds of Blenheim Palace.

I am on 80% of my fundraising total now so need one last push to make it to 100% - so carry on giving!
