Big Battlefield Bike Ride and other events....

This week has been a much better week for training. I only dropped one session and that was because the gym was shut and I would have done my best Mary Poppins impression if I had gone outside! My routine is still swim, spin, run, run a bit more, spin again and swim again. I do a few strength sessions and pilates too!

Now the exciting new! My new bike is ordered! I spent 2 hours at Pedal On in Tadley being measured and trying bikes. The Trek 1.5 will be mine once the Cycle to Work voucher is sorted and then I am back on the road!

This week I have raised £63 through the "Ultimate Bake Off". 10 of my colleagues baked a cake for a competition and the winner will be revealed tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for taking part!

I have added a comments page too - please send me messages of support. I will be approaching corporate sponsors and the local press soon so would be good for them to see that I am being followed!

Just a quick update this week! I was correct in my last post that this weeks training would be rubbish! It was I only managed one run this week - 1 hour on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

I now know that there is at least one person is reading this because my Mum told me off for not updating it ;-) She is starting to help me out as has made a cake for a "Guess the Weight of the Cake" competition. I have even made a page if anyone wants to take part and give me a £ when I see you. The prize is the cake - iced in time for Christmas.

The first few weeks of following a proper training plan went OK, it was a busy few weeks so I have missed a few session but for good reason.

My back to running plan seems to be going quite well if not a little bit easy but I guess I need to break myself back into it genty. I had to get a new heart rate monitor because my old one was faulty and I need a degree to figure out how it works! I'm up to about a 50 minute run/jog programme and should be up to half marathon distance by Christmas and then January and February will be all about speed. The dark miserable nights are not adhering me to running outside but I WILL stay motivated.

I have discovered a new spinning instructor who is great and pushes hard so hopefully she will keep my cycling in shape during the dark nights and lack of bike situation!

Swimming is great, doing 3 sessions a week and plan on doing a timed swim every 4 weeks. The aim is to knock a few seconds off each month. I am currently doing 1500 metres in 35:15. I do get a little bored swimming that distance in a pool and tend to loose count. I'm having a night off swimming as shattered tonight and beginning to regret it already!

As well as my training the last few weeks have been quite miltary related. Tim got back and myself, his sister and niece went on board for a day. It was great fun, we went round the Isle of Wight and had some great fly pasts from some fast jets and helicopters. It was a very tiring day with climbing up and down all the ladders. Think I will stick to selling holidays....

And of course we have had Remebrance Day. We spent the weekend in London and attended the Festical of Remebrance and the service at the Cenotaph. It was all very moving and emotional. It  also shows how much support or ex servicemen get and how our current service men and women need our support.

I will update at the weekend as to how this weeks training has gone - rubbish no doubt as I am off the World Travel Market at Excel. At least I will be able to have a look at the dock I will be swimming round in 10 months time!!!
